![]() ![]() At worst I got it all wrong and you can just make the upgrades later. Even if I am wrong, I'm not advising anyone to do something that will make a permanent gameplay difference. It is OPTIMAL advice because it keeps your options open, you can always choose to make the upgrade if you think it will better suit your playing style, you cannot undo the upgrade once you have made that choice. If you want to choose something in between then maybe this information can help you decide how many flask uses, or how much total healing you are willing to sacrifice. If you want the most flasks you can prioritize that. ![]() If you want the most total healing you can prioritize that instead. If you want to prioritize speed, you can weigh the costs and do that. Additionally, the final upgrade, 5 flasks with 5 upgrades, heals you for less total HP than 6 flasks with 4 upgrades.ġ upgrade (+115) = 3 flasks, 215 healing power each, 645 total HPĢ upgrades (+115, +75) = 2 flasks 290 healing power each, 580 total HPģ upgrades (+115, +75, +75) = 1 flask, 365 total HP But I will demonstrate the idea anyway, for example, if the first upgrade gives you 115 points, and the second upgrade only gives you 75 points, you begin to lose total healing power with even fewer upgrades. I have not observed any obvious evidence of this, so I assume that the amount of healing power added to each upgrade is the same. If the game has different fixed amounts for each upgrade the principle is still the same, except over-upgrading may be even more detrimental based on those fixed amounts. I use a percentage of the original flasks healing power, but this is really just a fixed amount based on my estimation of the increase in healing comparing not-upgraded flasks to flasks with one upgrade. Instead, you can see that each upgrade adds approximately the same small amount, slightly more than one not-upgraded flask, if not less. Otherwise you would easily be able to fill your entire health bar with one flask after three or four upgrades. Generally, upgrades beyond the first do not DOUBLE the mount of healing you get. and so on.ġ Flask never heals you for 40 times the original healing amount, which is what we would see if both the first upgrade increased your total healing power and the bonus is compounded. 1 upgrade seems to grant a 215% healing bonus per flask, 3 upgrades seems to grant a 330% healing bonus per flask. This is why I talk about the upgrade values the way that I do. The reason I believe that upgrades are not compounded is because the first upgrade, two flasks with one upgrade, does seem grant you more total healing than 2 flasks that are not upgraded and the values quickly become unreasonably large in a compound scenario. If the upgrades are compounded instead, say each upgrade takes the last healing value and adds 75% to it, the pattern that emerges is the same until you reach 7 flasks, at which point 5 upgrades would always yield the most total healing.ġ upgrade grants three flasks that heal for 175 each (525 total)Ģ upgrades grant two flasks that heal for 306.25 each (612.5 total)ģ upgrades grant 1 flask that heals for 535.9 If you have found 4 flasks in total, and the upgrade is 115%.ġ upgrade grants three flasks that heal for 215 each (645 total)Ģ upgrades grants two flasks that heal for 330 each (660 total)ģ upgrades grants one flask that heals for 445 Using the same principle, you can actually upgrade one less time to get more flask uses and still have about the same amount of healing power. ![]() It is also possible to use a larger number of flasks for evasion with invincibility frames, or to make use of other abilities that are triggered on Flask use. If you have 3 Flasks you could upgrade two times, but one upgrade will give you two flasks that heal you for 215 each, two upgrades will give you one flask that heals you for 330, but this is LESS THAN the total healing power of two flasks with one upgrade (430 ). If upgrading your flasks increases healing power by 115% or 500%, there will always be a reduction in the total amount of healing when you upgrade past a certain point, based on the number of flasks you have. Some players like to have more flasks, so you might want to keep some extra flasks so you can decide later. Try to wait before you use Quicksilver I recommend upgrading after you find 2 Flasks, and only make 3 upgrades. I feel it is worth mentioning that using Quicksilver can actually reduce your healing power. You can still explore Mourning and Havoc to obtain the items, but it is an optional area if you are not on the Eventide Ending quest. The ship area (Mourning and Havoc) is part of the Eventide DLC and has a boss tied to the Eventide quest line ( the Ending that leads to the Sequel ). ![]()
